Clothespin Bag Giveaway!!!!!!!!

Posted on

It’s Giveaway time!!!!

As part of the Sew Mama Sew! May Giveaway Day extravaganza, I am giving away one hand made one of a kind clothespin bag!  The tropical scenes bag pictured above!!!!

This tropical scenes clothespin bag is made from an old men’s shirt, so all upcycled!   It’s a nice medium weight 100% cotton – should last for many years so long as you don’t leave it on the line in the weather.  A nice gender neutral fabric, the men in the world won’t feel Y chromosome challenged carrying this to and from the line.

Our unique wire framed bags are all hand made. My husband bends the wire and I sew the bags. It’s our own pattern based off of a vintage bag found in his grandfather’s estate. I’ve updated and adapted it to current times… It features a magnet on the lid to keep it open while you’re hanging your clothes out. The wire frame on the bottom of the bag keeps the bag open – for easy access while you’re busy wrangling wet clothes.
All seams are cut with old fashioned pinking shears (to keep the edges from fraying out) and it is all sewn on my 1970’s Bernina sewing machine (thanks Mom!).  And, it easily holds enough pins to hang out several loads at one time.
(This is a vintage tablecloth bag and is not part of the drawing – it’s just here to show you how the lid works!  Plus, it’s pretty… 🙂 )

All in all, it’s machine washable (simply remove the wire before putting it into the wash).

Lidded clothespin bags are great for keeping your pins from bouncing out while on the line! Growing up in Kansas with all of the wind, that was always a battle… the lid on this bag will help keep the pins where they belong. It also works well for keeping the pins in while you carry them in and out of the house.

Like the bag?  Visit my Etsy shop, Rosy Star, for more fabric choices.  And, more are coming all of the time… so if you don’t see what you like, please check back.  Plus – I can do custom orders!

To win the tropical scenes bag, all you have to do is post a comment on this post and tell me if you have ever or currently or are thinking about in the future using a clothesline to dry your clothes.

Deadline to enter is May 25 – only 3 days people!  I will check the post some time on the morning of May 26, most likely at some point during Sesame Street, and randomly pick a winner.

Oh – and I will ship internationally!

And, as an added bonus, I will select two more folks to get a 20% discount on the purchase of a clothespin bag from my shop.  Just because I like you all!

I’m also looking for clotheslines to profile.  If you have a clothesline up, send me pictures  of it in use (and hopefully one with you standing next to it) and I will feature you and your line on the blog!   Beyond pictures, you will need to give me some basic info about your line… up to you what you include though.   Email me at lifeontheclothesline [at] gmail {dot} com.    I hope to see you and your line soon!

Thanks for entering and have fun with the contests!!!!

  2. Hey! I USED to have a clothesline till a storm took it out. I used it primarily for my sheets and towels. I want to put it back, but Life has gotten in the way. I plan to put another one up this summer to take advantage of hot Southern summer!

  6. Oh, I’d love to be the proud owner of that beautiful tropical clothespin bag! I grew up helping my mother hang clothes on the line, and then when I got married in 1969 our house had a clothesline but no dryer, so I hung clothes on the line just about every day, and with two babies a year apart that was a lot! We retired to Florida a few years ago, and though I have a dryer, I got my husband to put up a mini-clothesline for me because I like clotheslines. I love the tropical print! What a great giveaway!

I love clothespins and this would a perfect place to store them. Oh, and you are right the vintage table cloth bag is pretty!

When my dryer died two years ago I committed to drying clothes on a line! Love it in the summer. Give in to the new schwanky dryer in the winter. There is a three story building behind me with lots of young kids that work there, (20’s and 30’s) so I bought some huge white cotton panties to put on the line for fun!

  24. Great giveaway, thanks! I line dry 90% of my clothes, unfortunately, it’s all in the basement. My property has NO SUN so it takes forever for the clothes to dry outside, plus I end up having to wash most of them again due to the amount of birdie poop hitting the wash!

  38. These are great! Just what I need. I do use a clothesline-it is pretty awesome. We put it up last summer to replace the one I had that had seen better days and went to clothesline heaven the prior fall. Now I just leave all my clothespins on the line through rain and snow-I end up running over alot with the lawnmower when they fall off the line-not the best system. Thanks for the chance for this beauty!

Hi from Australia! We dry our clothes on the line all of the time- well except if it’s raining and we need something in a hurry1 🙂
There is something special about the clothes dried in the sunshine- they feel so good.
We have a rotary clothes line ( designed by an Aussie) but our neighbours have the old style long lines. Both are great.

I’ve been wanting to buy an actual clothesline for outside as well, but living in the UK, weather is so unpredictable even in the summertime, so I’ve been postponing it! I’d hate to hang up a load of clothes, leave the house for an hour, and come home to rain…which happens a lot here LOL!

We just bought a dryer a year ago and only did so as I had a small baby and we do not have a drying room – which are also common around here – to dry clothes in during winter. I do not like dryers at all!!!!

    Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

I have actually thought about asking the hubby to make me a clothesline, but today’s guest poster saying she had lived in places with restriction made me think we should probably check her as we haven’t lived here long and there is an “association” of sorts that has to approve out buildings, new fences etc… The bag is adorable.

  80. I use a drying rack to dry many of my clothes – does that count? The clothesline that I have is used by the kids to do whatever it is that they come up with on any given day. And then the clothespins are used to secure the quilts to the clothesline.

  82. We had a long, three line clothesline when I was growing up (4 children) and being the only girl, I did a LOT of hanging laundry on the line. Ugh! I hated it then. Of course, I am now BEGGING my husband for a clothesline. It’s a bit harder in this area as opposed to the rural area I grew up in…but I am going to get my clothesline this year. Just have to figure out where they sell them in my area! (I need one of those hexagon ones)

  86. I have been looking for a clothespin bag! Currently I’m using a craft apron tied at the neck. Not very pretty or comfortable. Sometimes I feel like I should hide some snacks inside since it looks like a feedbag around my neck! We live in Iowa, so the winters are too cold for outdoor drying, but every Spring we look forward to the wonderful fresh smell of clean laundry. We have five kids (all grown now) and every one can tell you how to put the laundry on the line to minimize how many pins you have to use!! In the past three years, even my husband has been known to haul it out to the line. It’s probably me, but I could not find anything that tells me how to actually BUY one. Thanks for any information.
